Data Architect

They are looking for a Senior level person to lead the development of the data architecture strategy within the company. Requires someone with a solid understanding and background in technologies but who can deal at CxO level to put together the high level strategic architecture. Strong communication skills are critical as is the ability to build strong relationships and manage clients.

Some of the key responsibilities:

* Contribute to the development of the overall IS strategy with
responsibility for the area of data architecture strategy.
* Define the enterprise data architecture vision, strategy, principles and
standards; obtain buy-in from stakeholders, management, business
partners
* Provide framework, stewardship, governance and decision making for
management of data for projects and programmes, business users and
other stakeholders.
* Define and embed governance processes around meta-data to ensure
an integrated definition of data for enterprise information, and to ensure
the accuracy, validity, and reusability of meta-data.
* Establish measures to chart progress related to completeness and
quality of meta-data for enterprise information, to support reduction of
data redundancy and fragmentation, elimination of unnecessary
movement of data, and improvement of data quality.
* Balance short-term versus long-term actions, strategic versus tactical
requirements, while continuing to move forward towards the strategic
vision.
* Deliver a road map to achieve the vision.
* Drive selection of data management tools,


Essential

* Deep understanding of relational database management design and
systems (Oracle, or DB2 or SOL Server), data integration (extraction, transform,
load ETL), data warehousing design and technologies (SAP 8B1I, or81, SOL
Server or KALIDO or Kimball) and on-line analytical processing (OLAP).
* Proven track record in implementing enterprise meta-data
management processes and tools and for managing meta-data for
decision-support and operational systems.
* Familiarity with meta-data management tools - enterprise repository
tools, data modelling tools and data profiling tools.
* Experience with the complete information system life cycle.
* Understanding of emerging areas such as Enterprise Information
Management.
* Good level of knowledge of existing and emerging technologies and of
industry best practice in database development and delivery.
* Enterprise scale architecture delivery experience (must have led or
been key team member for the delivery of data oriented projects from
scope to go-live).
* Experience of managing vendor projects - experience in working with
3rd party IT vendor / system integration implementation and integration
teams on projects
* Understanding of ETL technologies (e.g. SSIS or Informatica or Ab Initio, Data Stage)
* General understanding of Enterprise Architecture (EA) frameworks
(Zachman, TOGAF, etc)
* Proven track record of successfully using technology to strategic
business advantage and commercial benefit
