BI Technical Lead (ETL)

This is an exciting opportunity with a large telecommunications company who have a requirement for a Business Intelligence Development Technical Lead, with experience of working on large Data Warehouses.

The Technical Lead should be able to advise the Business Intelligence team on the best use of technology and repeatable best practice in the Business Intelligence arena.  This should include but not be limited to


Design of new databases
Recoverability processes and procedures
Backup processes and procedures
Security
Definition and implementation of access controls
Database availability – ensuring maximum up-time.
Database performance
Capacity Planning
Leveraging of database tools to improve database performance and efficiency
Use of PL/SQL
Introduction of new Oracle technology



- The Technical Lead should be able to advise the Business Intelligence team on the best use of ETL technology repeatable best practice in the Business Intelligence arena.  This should include but not be limited to


Design of ETL jobs (ideally DataStage including Parallel Extender)
Use of metadata in conjunction with ETL tools
Design patterns and standards



Day-to-day tasks will include


Review of Business Requirements Specifications; Impact Assessments, Solution Designs, Logical and Physical database designs, Detailed Designs, Unit Test Plans, Code, Dev Integration Test Plans and Deployment Instructions
Definition and maintenance of development processes and procedures
Where required, support resolution of Dev Integration Test, SIT, BRT or 4th Line Problem reports
Implementation of new requirements, enhancements and requests for change
Provide advice and guidance regarding the deployment, use and operation of the BI solution (to Operations and End Users)
Review and Tuning of Developer SQL
Mentoring of staff
Input into Sizing and Capacity planning for production platforms
Data Warehouse design
